On Saturday 1st
June 2013, the annual Kuk Sool Won European Championships were once again held
at Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
Twenty students from the
Lowestoft school entered the competition and came away with an amazing haul of 50
medals in total.
10 Gold, 17 silver, 16
bronze and 7 copper.
As well as participating in the
tournament, twenty other individual students from the Lowestoft Kuk Sool Won School
were awarded their respective black belts.
Earlier in the week a black
belt examination had been held at the Waterlane Sports Centre. The grading, which
consisted of performing all aspects of the martial arts, was conducted in front
of a panel of international Master’s, as well as the Grandmaster and founder of
Kuk Sool Won, In Hyuk Suh, 10th Degree Black Belt.

There was also special acknowledgment
and promotion for long-serving student, Kris French, who has now become one of
only a few people to reach the distinguished level of ‘Master Instructor’-5th
Degree Black Belt here in the
UK. Kris currently works as a Detective Constable, with the Norfolk
Constabulary and started his Kuk Sool training at the age of nine years old at
the Waterlane Sports Centre.
